Tech Support For Developing World Ministries
We primarily work with
ministries operating computer
labs built upon the Linux Thin
Server model. The LTSP enables
the utilization of older
computers that would otherwise
be barely operable or obsolete.
The system involves the use of
one modern, higher capacity
computer to serve as a type of
mainframe while the older
computers (clients) connect to
it and use it's resources
through simple network
connections. Using such a system
even the oldest computers can
perform current operations on
current software (the server's
software) and at respectable
speeds.
Refurbisher's Parts Network
In many locations in the
developing world there are a
surprising number of older
computers and or parts available
for ministries there to acquire.
They often have a difficult time
locating or affording parts to
keep them running.
- Our DIY (Do It Yourself)
refurbishers training
tutorial teaches people how
to dismantle their old PCs
and arranging for the
shipping of its parts to
ministries around the world.
- Mediate between
developing world ministries
and commercial computer
refurbishers to locate parts
for them
Developing World Youth Refurbisher Training
We locate the parts and turn them over to ministries operating computer
"building" classes. In somple words, we hand a kid a bucket of parts and say
"There you go, build yourself YOUR computer. Obviously we help them the
whole way but by the time they are done they will be familiar enough with
their PC that not only will they be able to operate a computer but they will
be thoroughly able to maintain and update it. Hopefully they would have
acquired enough skills to aid them to get employment. and or help their
ministry with more computer refurbishing.
